Ale degustation

On October 2, 2010 club members were gathering at Lina‘s house for English beer tasting. That night, a hard challenge was waiting for us, because hosts lined 19 types of beer on the table.

Some of the beer types were easily accessible in Lithuanian stores, others were brought back from Great Britain. Every beer degustation participant received a sheet with a tablet which taster had to fill in. We ranked color, foam, smell and taste in a five-point scale. So one type of beer could maximum collect 20 points. Tablets were filled in by 5 tasters so in the general tablet, maximum of points could have been 100. Of course, none of the beer types collected 100 points. Further we give you a list of beers sorted by the number of collected points:

 

1.          Young’s Double Chocolate Stout 5.2% – 90 points.

2.          Old Tom Original 8.5% – 89 points.

3.          Wells Bowman Stout 5.2% 87 points.

4.          Fuller’s 1845 6.3% – 84 points.

5.          Bath Ales Barnstormer 4.5% – 84 points.

6.          Shepherd Neame Gentelman Jack 5% – 84 points.

7.          Bombardier English Premium Bitter 5.2% – 82 points.

8.          Wells Banana Bread Beer 5.2% – 79 points.

9.          Ringwood Old Thumper 5.6% – 79 points.

10.      Belhaven St. Andrews Ale 4.6% – 78 points.

11.      Black Sheep Ringwelter 5.7% – 78 points.

12.      Fuller’s London Porter 5.4% – 76 points.

13.      Brew Dog Punk IPA 6% – 68 points.

14.      Shepherd Neame Golden Ale 4.5% – 65 points.

15.      Courage Directors 4.8% – 64 points.

16.      Wells Waggle Dance 5% – 61 points.

17.      Bombardier Burning Gold 4.7% – 54 points.

18.      Martons Strong Pale Ale 6.2% – 51 points.
